Festive fashion 2019: How to style your Christmas outfits
‘Tis the season to sparkle!
Christmas is nearly here, which means it’s time to embrace the festive fashion trends in time for all your upcoming social events. We’ve put together some suggestions for how you can revamp your Christmas style this year, whether you need inspiration for your annual office party or for the big day itself. And if you haven’t already, make sure to check out our Christmas Sparkle collection – a selection of our favourite jewellery pieces for this festive season.
Styling Your Christmas Party Outfit
Whether you’re dressing for the yearly company celebration or Christmas cocktails with friends, this is the time of year to go all out glam with your outfit. You might opt for festive colours, like silvers, golds, greens and reds, and go for a statement design adorned with sequins – it might be one of the only times of the year that you can get away with it! Or perhaps the little black dress is more your style, a classic that will never fail to impress, especially when dressed up with some sparkling statement jewellery for that festive edge. This option might be our favourite, as it’s so versatile: you can create endless outfits by changing up your accessories each time, while keeping the LBD as the base.
Thanks to the likes of Thomas Sabo, Swarovski, Nomination and our very own Stardust collection, we’ve got an abundance of jewellery on offer which is just perfect for dressing up your Christmas outfit this year. Endlessly sparkling and eye-catching, you can see just a few of our favourite pieces below…
Styling Your Christmas Eve Outfit
As it falls on a Tuesday this year, Christmas Eve will likely just be a regular working day for most of us. But why not make things a little more exciting by putting a festive spin on your typical office wear? The dress code at your workplace will obviously place limits on how far you can go, however these rules are likely to be relaxed a little bit on Christmas Eve (unless your boss is a Scrooge), and you don’t have to go too crazy. In terms of your outfit, why not spruce things up a bit with some ruffles or velvet, or go for something patterned rather than plain? And throw a little colour in there if you can – red or green will give off the festive vibes that you want.
If you’re unable to alter your clothing at all, some cute festive accessories might be what you need. Aim for just a little bit of sparkle without going to OTT, like some of the options from Nomination that we’ve laid out below.
Styling Your Christmas Day Outfit
Fashion might not be at the forefront of your mind on Christmas Day; for many, it’s a time to stay cosy in pyjamas, eat too many pigs in blankets, and crash out in front of It’s A Wonderful Life at around 5pm. The braver people among us might venture out to the pub, or perhaps you’ll have various plans with extended family which will have you going between houses all day long. And of course, there’s the traditional post-Christmas dinner walk that will have you wondering Why do we do this every year? Whether you’re lounging or lunching, there are a few options for effortlessly styling your outfit to reflect the celebrations!
If you’re opting to stay in all day (no judgement), then it’s time to pull out your cosiest loungewear and slippers. If you’re going to be out and about, then we recommend keeping it comfortable but smart with clothing like chunky knitwear, warm coats and blouses – and adding a festive style twist with things like tartan patterning, ruffles and bright reds. To accessorise, we suggest meaningful jewellery, as Christmas is a day often associated with celebrating your family and friends. Maybe you have a piece of jewellery that was gifted to you by a relative the year before, or a family heirloom with special sentimental value. Nomination bracelets can also be customised to reflect the importance of family, with the potential for some truly meaningful creations.
Alternatively, you can style your bracelet with some festive links, perfect for embracing the Christmas spirit!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, so embrace festive fashion this party season!
