Summer is finally here, and for many of us that means holiday time. Most of us can’t wait to get away to our exciting destination, which will likely be somewhere involving sunny beaches and endless cocktails. Knowing how to dress for the hot weather abroad can be a challenge when you’re used to the cold and damp of the UK, so we’ve put together a few tips which may help when it comes to planning your outfits, from casual beachwear to late-night outings to the local bars and clubs.

Accessories are key

We know that packing is a struggle. Clothes, shoes, swimwear, handbags, sunglasses, hair products, make up, toiletries, towels, books, sun cream… It’s a cram, especially for those of us who opt for solely hand luggage (and likely regret it later). So, we’ve come up with a simple solution: save on valuable space by packing less clothes, more accessories. Rather than taking a dozen pairs of different shorts and skirts, try to limit yourself to just a couple of versatile pieces, like a pair of on-trend paperbag shorts and a wrap skirt. Make sure to also pack a few staple strappy dresses and playsuits which can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. And finally, go all out with the accessories! Small items like sunglasses, hats and jewellery will take up very little space, and can be used to define and personalise your look.

If you’re just heading to the beach, we suggest pairing with some statement sunglasses and an oversized hat, and maybe some eye-catching earrings if you’re not planning on getting your hair wet in the sea. If you’re going on a trip to a nearby town, be prepared for lots of walking and wear some comfortable shoes (and don’t forget the sun cream!).
