Here at Joshua James, we make it our mission to help you celebrate all special occasions throughout the year, including St. Patricks Day 2021.
In today’s article, we’re going to give you an insight into St. Patricks Day; why it’s celebrated and when it was first established, as well as how you can applaud this occasion from home this year. Not to mention, we’re also going to show you some of our key pieces that would be the ideal gift for those celebrating this year.
Why Is St. Patrick’s Day 2021 Celebrated?
St. Patrick’s Day 2021 and all previous green events are celebrated annually on the 17th of March. This occasion has been praised by the Irish for over 1000 years to commemorate the death of Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity. It was made an official feast day in the early 17th century and is actively celebrated by the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion and others.
While it is celebrated globally, Ireland has made this an official holiday to praise their culture. With public parades, vibrant bars and a day of dressing up as green as one can, St. Paddy’s Day is a day for the entire family.
How to Celebrate St. Patricks Day from Home
1) At-Home Bar Crawl
A bar crawl at home, you ask? That’s right! While you cannot hop from each of your favourite bars this year, that doesn’t mean that you can’t bring the magic to your house.
Decorate each room with rainbows, clovers and banners as you take your Zoom call on a journey. Just like with any bar crawl, you have a drink per venue, but in this case, you’ll be having a different drink per room! All there’s left to do is get dressed up in your leprechaun outfits, and then it’s bottoms up to you all.
Push the boat out even more and theme cocktails around St. Paddy’s Day; you can even hold a competition on the greenest drink!
2) An Irish Quiz Night
Bored of quiz nights? We understand. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t spice up your St. Patricks Day 2021 quiz night for a fresh, new spin on the usual general knowledge rounds. Theme rounds on the holiday itself (because who else knows why leprechauns relate to St. Patrick’s Day?), and a riddle round on ‘what’s green’ would also go down a treat.
An example question could be ‘What does a leprechaun call a jolly man wearing green?’ with the answer ‘A Jolly Green Giant’.
3) St. Patricks Day Scavenger Hunt
Want to find the gold at the end of the rainbow? It’s time to get your lucky clover out and go on a scavenger hunt. Depending on the age of who’s playing, you can hide green treats such as Green Millions around the garden and house or get the adult family members involved and plant green shots around, which, when discovered, have to be designated to the unlucky leprechaun.
You can be as creative as you desire for this event. Even though you may need to get someone to plan it, they’ll also have fun as they watch you wobble around the place!
